Skylight Shades

The sunny weather has brought in many customers who have skylights.  They are lovely most of the year, and usually privacy is not an issue, but the heat does pour in.  Often they are in bathrooms and kitchens – hot and steamy places already.

The best solution we have found is cellular shades.  You know the ones that look like a honeycomb on the sides.   We custom fit the shades into the skylight opening.  The track on the sides and the tension wires keep the shade in place and prevent the shade from sagging.

Sometimes you can reach the skylight shade without climbing on a ladder to adjust the shade, but often the openings are too high.  We have a telescoping pole that hooks onto a loop on the shade and allows you to raise and lower the shade.  You can raise the shade every night and lower it every morning or you can leave it down all summer then raise it for the winter when you want the sun to come in.  The pole collapses into a 6’ length so it fits into a hall closet when not in use.

If you feel uncoordinated with a pole 16’ in the air, we do have a remote control than can open and close the shade.  Just aim and click.
